My role as an artist is to help others see the world differently. I seek out familiar spaces and places to highlight the subtle and unique qualities that we often take for granted. I am attracted to the way sunlight hits these surfaces and creates shadows which in turn creates more interesting shapes. My work is a reflection of my surroundings and this is how I express and interpret such spaces.
Through my art I try to convey the character and soul of a place. I even try to seek beauty in abandoned and deteriorated buildings. The end result makes the location seem somewhat surreal, a scene which seems to find a balance between the real and my interpretation of it. I often describe my work as a dialogue between the figurative and expressive abstract forms.
The beauty of creating art is the constant search for new possibilities and sharing my art is my way of sharing a part of my inner world.
"Kevin Sciberras is a poet of space and volume, masterfully capturing an aura of silence and introspection in places of worship and of architectural distinction". (Joseph Agius, Times of Malta, 2019)
